The Jewish communities of Latin America are getting more and more interconnected in a network of mutual enrichment, solidarity, and responsibility. That fosters their unique perspectives and innovative ideas to our global network.
The Kaplan Leadership Initiative in Latin America is a partnership with JDC’s LEATID Latam, which works to promote and sustain Jewish life by strengthening institutions and communities by supporting its leaders, both professional and volunteer. LEATID Latam has been the backbone of Latin America’s Jewish communities for many years.

How much does the Kaplan Leadership Initiative cost for participants—and what is included in that cost?The Kaplan Leadership Initiative is funded almost entirely by Ed and Carol Kaplan, excluding visa fees, travel insurance, transportation to local airports. What kind of time commitment is required from Kaplan Leadership Initiative fellows?Each cadre of fellows participates in the initiative for 11 months. This period includes two regional seminar, one global conference, and webinars. The seminars generally last 5 days and include intensive skills training, collaboration and, of course, time to get to know each other. Global conference is a one-week long experience. Location - TDB. In order to take part in the program, the candidate should be able to attend 100% of seminars and 80% of webinars.

What type of certification or degree is issued to fellows upon completing the Kaplan Leadership Initiative?Fellows who participate in all 3 seminars and complete all program tasks will be awarded with the certificate of completion and relevant certificates from partner educational institutions.

If I am unable to attend one of the seminars, am I still eligible to join the Initiative?No, each Kaplan fellows should complete 100% of seminars.
